Collaborative Course Development Models

Collaborative course development partnerships are fundamental to distributed learning in Alberta. Partnerships enable enhanced professional development, while improving the overall quality of resources and supports available to teachers and students. This session will showcase the collaborative course development model used by Alberta Education and its jurisdictional partners to develop online and print courses of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Participants will engage in a cost-benefit analysis of the model and discuss key success factors of such partnerships.

About Hélène Fournier

Hélène is the Director, Distributed Learning Resources Branch, of Alberta Education. She plays a leadership role in the design and development of distributed learning materials for K-12 students and teachers in Alberta. Hélène previously worked at Red River College in Winnipeg as a Program Officer of the Distance Education Division, as well as at La Cité collégiale in Ottawa where she held various administrative and instructor positions in the areas of e-Learning and Distance Education. She has also worked for a variety of Canadian and overseas institutions as a trainer and consultant in the areas of distance and distributed learning.
