This session will provide an opportunity for participant feedback and input into the technical considerations and elements of the Distributed Learning Strategy. A brief history and the next steps in the plan for a provincial direction in this delivery mode will be discussed. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about and discuss key concepts like equitable access, integration with existing systems, and long term planning and support.

Mike Sharun
As a Senior Manager in the Learning Technologies Branch of Alberta Education, Mike is responsible for the technical environment surrounding the LearnAlberta.ca repository and the Content Delivery Network. He has been working in the IT field for over 25 years, both in local and provincial government and in private industry. Much of Mike’s success has come as a result of his ability to build and maintain effective relationships with his stakeholders and customers.
 
Kevin Campbell
As Manager of Emerging Technologies with the Stakeholder Technology Branch of Alberta Education, Kevin works closely with education system stakeholders to investigate the technical requirements and infrastructure required to support the implementation of new and emerging technologies that leverage the Alberta SuperNet. Previously, Kevin worked in Alberta’s post-secondary system primarily as a faculty member in the community college system. Kevin's duties included supporting the technical implementation of collaborative applications and assisting faculty members with the integration of technology into their teaching and learning practice.
