Help to shape the future of distributed learning in Alberta schools
Help to shape the future of distributed learning in Alberta schools:
What?
The Alberta Teachers' Association, in collaboration with University of Alberta researchers, is undertaking a comprehensive study of teachers' work in distributed learning environments. With the growth of the Internet and increased access to learning technologies, the line between online and face-to-face instruction is blurring. This study hopes to assess the views of teachers who work both in online situations and in traditional 'brick-and-mortar' schools.
Who?
You will be asked to anonymously provide your opinion on a number of questions regarding work conditions and your experiences with distributed learning instruction. There are no right or wrong answers, and the survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Names are not required within the online survey, and the responses will be kept anonymous. An invitation to participate in focus groups later in February and March, organized by the Educational Technology Council, is also be included in thesurvey.
Where?
You can participate in the online survey at:
www.xls.ualberta.ca/xlspublic
Alberta teachers are invited to anonymously participate in this study throughout the month of February 2008.
Why?
As teachers we must maintain the right to determine the conditions under which we work. Given the tremendous growth and promise of new technologies anticipated in the coming years, this research study is an important step forward for the profession. It will help the ATA and Alberta Education better understand the current working conditions of teachers in distributed learning environments and assist in anticipating and defining future needs.
When?
You have until March 11, 2008 to complete the survey. The research team will then be analyzing the data, and preparing for focus groups on this subject and the findings from the survey.
