Alberta Distributed Education and Technology Association

There are many things going on that I need to report:

• ADETA as received confirmation for a grant from Alberta Education to hire a communications officer to assist with the promotional activities of the new Distributed Learning initiative and the Distributed Learning Symposium in March 2009. There is a call for applications on the adeta.org website now.
• We expect to receive an additional grant again for a Conference Convener to lead the organization committees in the preparations for the Distributed Learning Symposium in March 2009. A call for applications for this position is coming and will be posted on the adeta.org site, also.
• The board of directors is working on an update of the strategic plan for ADETA. This includes a name change and redefining the goals and activities for the coming three years. This plan will be presented to the membership for ratification by the AGM in Calgary on June 20, 2008.
• Speaking of the AGM, it will be on June 20th, in Calgary at the UofC, in conjunction with the Canadian E-Learning Conference that ADETA is hosting with the UofC, in partnership with other institutions. For details go to the new Conference Website at http://conference.adeta.org We are still looking for presenters and workshop facilitators for this conference.
• At the AGM, we will be holding elections for the President's position and about 4 of the board of director positions. Watch for the formal announcement coming out soon. Please consider running for a position or volunteering to work on one of the standing committees.
