Job Description:
To provide direct support throughout Canadian Pacific (Canada and U.S.) in meeting corporate technical training and performance needs. Participates in the analysis of problems/opportunities and designs, develops, evaluates and support the implementation of appropriate training or related interventions using the principles of instructional design and performance technology.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conducts Front End Analysis and recommends appropriate and timely interventions which are cost effective, including but not limited to instructional interventions, for improving employees' performance and productivity.
• Designs, develops, evaluates, and supports the implementation of technical training programs and related material using the principles of instructional design and performance technology.
• Manages technical training projects from conception to production including leading small peer project teams and/or collaborating as part of a team.
• Develops and applies evaluation processes, analyzes data and takes necessary actions in order to continuously improve training interventions, and documents the effectiveness of presented improvement interventions.
• Conducts periodic revisions of instructional materials to ensure they comply with CP and stakeholders' requirements.
• Researches, develops, and coordinates implementation of corporate training standards for program design, development, delivery and evaluation.
• Keeps up to date with innovation and current development with the field of instructional design and performance technology in order to produce performance improvement initiatives that are cost effective.
• Develops training and competency models to support the development and evaluation of training personnel.
• Delivers Train-the-Trainer interventions to initiate instructors to new or redesigned instructional courses.
 

Qualifications:
• Graduate degree in Instructional Design or Educational Technology
• Five or more years experience in the design, development , implementation and evaluation of training interventions, and conducting Front End Analysis, preferably in a corporate environment.
• Up-to-date experience with multimedia learning technologies and desktop publishing and related applications (Pagemaker, Word,Spreadsheets, Project Management).
• Experience in distributed learning technologies and related applications
• Railway experience would be an asset

Mount Royal College is currently recruiting for the full-time position of Manager, Learning Technologies, Academic Development Centre (ADC). The Centre resides within the Faculty of Teaching and Learning. This position reports to the Director of the Academic Development Centre.
 
The Academic Development Centre facilitates teaching excellence and innovation by providing support and expertise in the following areas: faculty development, eLearning, instructional design, curriculum development, educational/learning technology integration and training, and distributed learning (audio and video conferencing).
 
Position Description
The Manager, Learning Technologies is responsible for the successful day-to-day supervision and coordination of staff employed on the Centre’s educational/learning technologies team: the Instructional Design team developing online courseware, the drop-in technology integration support area, and the audio/video conferencing centre. The Manager exercises leadership to research, test and pilot, implement, and evaluate relevant educational / learning technologies that help advance the core purpose of the ADC. In fulfilling these responsibilities the Manager works collaboratively with the Faculty Development Consultant, Learning Technologies, professional staff, the Director, and other institutional colleagues, as required. The Manager, where appropriate, also supports/engages in applied research that sustains excellence and innovation in teaching and learning.
 
The Manager has the following key responsibilities for individuals and programs reporting to the position: internal and external communication requirements; coordinating the development of institutional online courseware projects; coordinating the eCampusAlberta initiative, leading team planning and priority-setting activities; submission of annual budget requests; approval of payroll and vacation requests; shared budget management (with the Director); management of staff workload and responsibility for performance reviews; support for professional development. The Manager also collaborates with staff and managers in Information Technology Services, and with other institutional and external stakeholders, in matters related to eLearning project development, and the adoption, deployment, and evaluation of learning technologies, as required.
 
Education:
·    Graduate degree preferred
·    Undergraduate degree required
 
Experience and Skills:
·    Demonstrated exceptional communication skills: written, verbal, and interpersonal;
·    Proven efficacy in teamwork / teambuilding skills and a commitment to collaboration;
·    Demonstrated leadership skills and potential to further develop leadership capacity;
·    Proven effectiveness in the management and supervision of staff and projects;
·    Expertise in the effective use of educational/learning technologies is essential, including theory and application of  technologies that support teaching and learning;
·    Ability to work effectively with others, both on a departmental and institutional level to plan, assess, deploy, and evaluate educational/learning technologies, as required;
·    Demonstrated success in working with information technology professionals, a key asset;
·    Three to five years experience working in the post-secondary environment with educational/learning technologies and in a team environment;
·    Demonstrated understanding and appreciation for the aims of higher education and the principles of teaching and learning, including the role of teaching learning centres in advancing these aims.

Salary:  $62,472 to $81,900 

Alberta Justice, Edmonton - An exciting and challenging opportunity exists as an Instructional Design Specialist within Court Services.  This position is responsible for the design, development, implementation and evaluation of effective training programs, courses and curriculum on both large-scale, province-wide initiatives and specific projects.  Training programs are based on Court Services’ training model which includes online, technology enhanced, classroom-based and on-the-job training programs; designed to accelerate learning of new hires and maintain knowledge levels of existing staff.   

Your strong research and analytical skills will help you in your examination of current organizational environments, existing and emerging technologies and their potential benefits within a training program.  Due to your involvement with the design and implementation of training programs, project management skills and other business skills such as budgeting are essential.  This position requires you to be the sole expert in program/course design and development and as such requires the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.  Working knowledge or understanding of eLearning, multi-media elements such as graphics and animation, Macromedia Flash, Adobe Suite, HTML coding and/or JAVA and Flash animation would be an asset. 

Qualifications:  A university degree in a related field, such as Adult Education or Instructional Design, with considerable years of experience in developing education or training programs.  Masters degree in Adult Education, Curriculum Development or Instructional Design would be an asset.  Equivalencies will be considered.

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY ANALYST
NorQuest College

NorQuest College is seeking an enthusiastic individual to play a lead role in supporting the College’s online course delivery tools.  In this role you will be responsible for the technical support and training of students and staff as well as the administration and maintenance of these applications. You will be a key member of the team that supports eLearning at the College.

RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting and training for students and faculty engaged in eLearning onsite and at a distance.
  • Responsible for WebCT and Elluminate Live! administration including:
    • managing course creation and student and faculty access.
    • generating user reports.
    • overseeing upgrades.
  • Work with I&T department to maintain eLearning applications. 
    • testing new versions.
    • scheduling upgrades.
    • backing up classes and courses.
  • Research, test, evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies to meet educational requirements that enhance the College’s eLearning environment.
  • Provide workshops and individual training sessions for faculty and staff on the effective use of educational software and equipment.
  • Support and maintain educational technology resources and equipment at College campuses.
  • Conduct classroom technology demonstrations.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • 2 year diploma in a computer related course of study.
  • Experience in a related field especially technical support and training.
  • Strong organizational skills: the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to learn new technologies and applications quickly.
  • Detailed knowledge of the following equipment/software/hardware: College applications and educational technology software including WebCT, Elluminate Live, DreamWeaver, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc., computers, laptops, and traditional and advanced multimedia equipment.
